Meet Ivy

This is Ivy Maria, my new little girl..."adopted" (aka sponsored) through Compassion. My sister and I sponsored a little boy, Abel, for the past several years, but he recently withdrew from the program, so I've been praying about a new child to sponsor. When I saw Hello Kitty on Ivy's shirt, I knew she was the one. =)

Ivy is 5 years old and lives in the Philippines with her dad (a farmer), mom (a homemaker), and two siblings. She loves dolls, art, and playing house, and I can't wait to learn more about her. I love that Compassion's program allows you to make a difference in a child's life both through financial support and through the opportunity to actually build a relationship with that child. I may never get to meet Ivy, but I feel blessed by the opportunity to watch her grow and get to know her and her family and culture through letters and pictures. And how rewarding to know that I'm helping provide education, health care, and Bible teaching--things that will make a difference for the rest of her life and for eternity--for my little girl.
